“Ukraїner. Ukrainian Insider” is an updated edition of the well-known project that presents Ukraine through its regions, people, and authentic stories. First published in 2019, the book quickly became a bestseller: over 50,000 copies were sold, and foreign-language editions appeared in the United Kingdom, Japan, and Germany. It remains one of the most popular gift books for introducing foreigners to Ukraine.
This renewed edition features the most memorable stories collected during Ukraїner’s expeditions across all historic regions of the country. Many narratives gained new significance after the start of the full-scale invasion, allowing the book to combine perspectives from both before and during the war. Several additional stories that did not make it into the first edition are now included as well.
The British edition contains a foreword by publisher Polly Powell, who wrote it after receiving the book as a thank-you gift from a woman from Hostomel whom she had sheltered in London. Today, the book serves as a meaningful form of cultural diplomacy, helping readers in Ukraine and abroad discover the country as it truly is – diverse, resilient, and uniquely its own.
